“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it” – Jalal ad-Din Rumi
“That (the above quote) pretty much summed up my experience at the Conscious Connecting workshop. Through the practices and sharing within the group, I had the chance to observe and reflect on my habitual and instinctive reactions towards giving and receiving love. The session started with a “no/yes” movement exercise for us to come back into the moment and feel into our bodies. How many of us are familiar with how a no or yes answer feels deep within us? Of course it helped (in a way) that I was paired with total strangers. Authentic consent also came into play; but if I were honest with myself, there were moments where I didn’t say “no” even though I felt like rejecting. I left the session with a greater awareness of my body, and thoughts and reactions towards love. Once in a while, it’s good to reconnect with yourself and others.”

“I attended the workshop without knowing what to expect. After the workshop, I learnt that it is very important that we do the little things consciously. We always take things for granted and tend to do things to our partners unconsciously thinking that it would be ok when they don’t reject you. It had never crossed my mind that they may feel uncomfortable and in this workshop I have learnt to ask for permission from my partner and get to know his feelings and thoughts of a particular action. This actually allows me to understand my partner much better and connect with him better.” – Pearly Phua, Sept 2012
