Welcome to Love, Sex, and Everything in Between! My name is Martha and I’m a sexologist and I am playing your Fairy God Sister. So, what message do I have for you this week?
So this week we have a reminder of masculinity in action. The first of May is Labor Day and it’s a day of rest for all people who work.
So do you notice that there are people in your lives who take care of you and there are people who want to take care of you? So when they want to take care of you, do you actually allow yourself to receive? So do you notice that people who want to take care, want to give, actually puff up just a little bit more when you allow them to do that?
So just to give you an example, that day when I was going to Riverside Point for a party, I was in a cab and I told him to drop me off at the Riverside Point taxi stand, and the cab driver actually didn’t know where it was, so he told me all kinds of taxi stands that were near Riverside Point, but not the Riverside Point taxi stand. So he told me about the Riverwalk taxi stand, he told me about the Merchant Court taxi stand, and at some point I just got really frustrated, so I asked him: “Why do you keep telling me about all these taxi stands? That is not what I want to hear. It’s not what I want.”
And then it struck me that that’s because the masculine does not like to not know. The masculine doesn’t like to not be able to have the answers. The masculine doesn’t like to not be able to take care.
So I realized this, and so this is my challenge to you this week: Allow yourself to be taken cared of for women. Allow yourself to notice what happens when you allow a man to take care of you and what does it feel like to be taken cared of.
It doesn’t mean big things. It could be small things. And for the men, perhaps you want to be the one if you have a habit of giving or taking care, to let others take care of you, and if you have a habit of being taken cared of, maybe you want to try to show up just that bit more and take care of somebody else. So this week, the challenge is to have masculinity in action.
